About RAFRevenue

Financial clarity for Medicare Advantage risk contracts: we build modeling tools that give MA risk leaders the financial precision their organizations demand.

Our Mission

Medicare Advantage risk contracts represent some of the most complex financial arrangements in healthcare. Yet the tools available to model these contracts have historically been limited to unwieldy spreadsheets, expensive actuarial engagements, or opaque vendor models.

VBC Risk Analytics built it to change that. We believe every organization managing MA risk deserves transparent, precise financial modeling tools that deliver answers in seconds, not weeks.

Who We Serve

Our tools are designed for the people who make financial decisions about Medicare risk contracts, starting with Medicare Advantage and extending to ACOs (MSSP, LEAD):

  • CFOs of risk-bearing medical groups, IPAs and MSOs who need board-ready revenue projections
  • MSO and ACO leaders modeling % of premium and risk-share economics
  • Risk adjustment directors quantifying the ROI of coding programs
  • Finance and actuarial teams building risk adjustment pro forma models
  • Payer contracting leads evaluating new risk arrangements

Our Approach

We take a financial-first approach to Medicare Advantage modeling. Rather than starting with clinical data or coding workflows, we start where the CFO starts: What does this contract mean for our revenue?

Our models use the same fundamental formulas that drive MA contract economics — base rates, risk adjustment factors, normalization, the coding adjustment and % of premium — and make them instantly accessible through intuitive tools. Try our RAF Revenue Calculator to see the approach in action.

Transparency

Every calculation in our tools shows its work. We believe financial models should be auditable, not black boxes. Every formula, every assumption, every input is visible and documented. You should never have to wonder where a number came from.

Who Built MRRI

Precise Health Risk Compass™ MRRI (Medicare Risk & Revenue Intelligence) was created by Chin Ramamoorthi and the team at VBC Risk Analytics Inc., a healthcare analytics firm specializing in Medicare Advantage financial modeling and risk adjustment strategy.

Chin Ramamoorthi, CEO & Chief Architect

Chin Ramamoorthi leads VBC Risk Analytics and is the chief architect of RAFRevenue's calculators and the MRRI platform, with more than 20 years of experience, and reviews the methodology and figures on every guide and calculator on this site. LinkedIn profile.

The team brings deep domain expertise from years of hands-on experience in MA revenue modeling, risk adjustment operations and healthcare finance leadership. We've worked with health plans, provider-sponsored health plans, ACOs, and risk-bearing provider groups ranging from 5,000 to 100,000+ MA lives.

Our tools and methodologies are informed by real-world implementation experience — not theoretical frameworks. Every formula in the RAF revenue calculator, every modeling assumption in the revenue modeling guide, and every platform capability in MRRI reflects the practical requirements of finance teams making real decisions about real contracts.

How We Keep the Numbers Accurate

Every figure on this site comes from one calculation engine that applies the published CMS payment-year factors: FFS normalization and the MA coding pattern adjustment from each CMS Rate Announcement. We update the factors and every affected page after each final CMS Rate Announcement (Advance Notice changes are shown as proposals until final), show a "last updated" date and the sources on each guide, and label anything that is an assumption. If you spot an error, tell us and we will correct it.
